But as it was the case with some vogue terms in computer science before, the Cloud also became one of the most misused terms in IT history. A lot of companies and even IT professionals simply replaced the old-fashioned word “Server” with the cool new vocable “Cloud”, whenever possible – well, actually also whenever impossible. So Cloud computing became a synonym for “It’s running on a server but I don’t know where”.
